Who We Are

Not programmed—Spirit-led

Although we have an established program, we are not programmed, for the Holy Spirit gives us guidance and direction. The ministries of our church are designed to meet the needs of the total being — body, mind, and spirit.

The teachings that go forth are geared to promote a healthy, God-centered lifestyle. Our visitors have given us feedback that our services have a warm atmosphere, filled with genuine worship and praise. Come and see why!

Our History

Rooted in Faith & Legacy

Tri'umphant Word Ministries Inc. is a member of the Church of God in Christ under the Northern Georgia Second Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction. Our Jurisdictional Prelate is Bishop Mark Walden.

Before the name Tri'umphant Word Ministries was adopted, our name was Sims Street Church of God in Christ, located at 910 Sims Street in Atlanta, GA. Superintendent Horace Dukes Sr. and his wife Dorothy L. Dukes served as our leaders for 36 years. God called these fine leaders home in 2002 and 2017 respectively. They will forever be in our memory for tireless leadership and magnanimous service.

In early 2003, Pastor Horace Dukes Jr. began the search for a new church name. The name Tri'umphant Word Ministries was most appropriate because it emphasizes the Trinity — Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Tri'umphant Word Ministries was incorporated in July 2003 and we moved to our current facility in November 2007.

Mission Statement

The mission of the church is to provide its members, the unchurched, and the community at large with knowledge on how to have a personal relationship with Christ and to enlighten them on how they can gain access to the promises contained in the Word of God.

Vision Statement

In winning souls for Christ, we understand that we must first address social and primal needs. We have enacted a program to minister to these needs, including on-site outreach where we feed the public and minister in prayer, as well as donations to local and national non-profit organizations that serve the indigent.

Evangelist
Jennifer Y. Dukes

Evangelist Jennifer Y. Dukes was born in Brooklyn, New York — the older of two girls born to Pastor William Walker and Evangelist Margret Walker. Her parents provided a home environment where Christian mores and values were espoused. She gave her life to the Lord at age 15 and has never looked back.

Under the leadership of her former pastor, Pastor Lena Davis, Evangelist Dukes preached her first sermon in 1984: "Double for Your Trouble" from Job 42:10. Her calling has been evidenced foremost by the anointing as she expounds on the Word of God, and through the lives that have been changed, encouraged, and delivered.

Serving Body, Mind & Spirit

How We Serve & Worship

The ministries of our church are designed to meet the needs of the total being. Each ministry reflects our commitment to the Word of God and the genuine care we have for our congregation and community.

Sunday School

We offer Sunday School classes for various ages, including separate classes for adult women and men, which afford the ability to deal with gender-specific issues within the framework of God's Word. Begins at 10:15 AM every Sunday.

Bible Study

Our Bible Study sessions are "Word Driven" and serve as a means of hearing what the Lord is saying to His church. Questions are permitted, personal experiences shared, and the pastor challenges attendees to study the Word in context with original writings.

Voices of Triumph

As it was with David and Solomon, God has given us music to quell the spirit and soothe the soul. The Voices of Triumph is our adult Praise Team and they minister each Sunday with encouraging and uplifting songs.

Children's Ministry

Each 4th Sunday is dedicated to developing our youth. During this time they minister through oratorical reflections, songs, and speeches. On occasion, our youth may be called upon to be the key spokesperson of the day.

Civic Aid & Outreach

Our church assists those in the community in need of food and has made donations to local and national non-profit organizations — including St. Jude's Children Hospital, the Atlanta Red Cross, and the Atlanta Food Bank.

We'd Love to Hear From You

Week of May 25, 2025

"Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths."

Proverbs 3:5–6
Weekly Devotional

Walking in Complete Trust

There are moments in life when the path ahead seems unclear — when the decisions we face feel larger than our wisdom can handle. It is in those very moments that God invites us into a deeper posture of trust. Not a partial trust, not a cautious trust, but a trust that involves the whole heart.

Solomon, writing with divine wisdom, instructs us to lean not on our own understanding. This is not a call to abandon reason, but rather a call to submit our reasoning to the One who sees all ends from all beginnings. God's understanding is not limited by time, circumstance, or the incomplete information we often work with. When we acknowledge Him in all our ways — in our relationships, our work, our finances, our health — we are positioning ourselves to receive His direction.

"He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus."

Philippians 1:6

Trusting God completely does not mean life becomes without challenge. It means we walk through challenges with a settled confidence that He is ordering our steps. Every season — the abundant and the difficult — becomes an opportunity to see His faithfulness on display. The Christian life is not one of anxiety, but of anchored hope.

This week, wherever you are in your walk, take a moment to release the areas of your life you have been holding too tightly. Surrender them — not out of defeat, but out of a faith that knows God's plans for you are good, purposeful, and sure.

Reflection Questions
  • In what area of your life are you currently leaning on your own understanding rather than seeking God's guidance?
  • What does it look like practically to "acknowledge God" in your daily decisions this week?
  • Can you recall a time when God made your path straight in a way you did not expect? How did that strengthen your trust?
Closing Prayer

Heavenly Father, we come before You surrendering every plan, every worry, and every hope into Your hands. Teach us to trust You fully — not just when life is easy, but especially when the road ahead is uncertain. Make our paths straight as we keep our eyes fixed on You. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Walking in Complete Trust
Proverbs 3:5–6

"Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths."

Proverbs 3:5–6
  • 1Complete trust requires a whole heart. God does not call us to partial surrender — half our heart on Him, half on our own strategy. Full trust is an act of the will rooted in the knowledge of His character.
  • 2Our understanding is limited; His is not. We see today; God sees eternity. When we submit our reasoning to His wisdom, we gain access to a perspective that transcends our circumstance.
  • 3Acknowledgment is daily and deliberate. To acknowledge God in all our ways means inviting Him into every decision, conversation, and plan — not just the major moments.
Application This Week

Each morning this week, before making a single decision, pause and speak this aloud: "Lord, I acknowledge You in this. Guide my steps." Make trust an active practice, not a passive wish.

The Armor of God: Dressed for Battle
Ephesians 6:10–18

"Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes."

Ephesians 6:11
  • 1We are in a spiritual battle. The enemy of our souls is real, active, and strategic. Ignorance of this battle does not exempt us from it — it only leaves us unprepared.
  • 2Each piece of armor is purposeful. The belt of truth, breastplate of righteousness, shoes of peace, shield of faith, helmet of salvation, and sword of the Spirit each address a specific area of vulnerability.
  • 3Prayer activates the armor. Paul closes by calling us to pray at all times in the Spirit — prayer is not separate from the armor, it is the atmosphere in which the armor functions.
Application This Week

Spend five minutes each morning this week intentionally "putting on" each piece of armor through prayer. Name each piece and ask God to make it active in your life that day.
